Designing Resilient Infrastructure

Flood and subsidence is a global issue, now increasing due to climate change and global warming. The occurrence of natural disasters has increased in an alarming rate in the past decade due to the increasing effects of climate change. In the design we approach this issue with an intention of Resilience. Resilience is one of the concepts that have been brought forward to be installed in vulnerable communities to lower the impact from such disasters.

From their traditional floating markets , festivals , housing it was obvious that their network and transportation system was always related to water. The water based living system and nature is the basic of their life . Water was an important part of their ecology ,and also urban growth . In our design we propose our strategic actions where water to be part of ecology and center of urbanization . Chao phraya river here is acting as the center .
Our design suggestions aim to foster social and economic development during periods of rising water levels, with enhancements to pedestrian mobility and bioswales. The residences of low to medium height are linked via raised platforms, ensuring uninterrupted local business operations
