Extending a Hand
‘Extending a Hand’ was focused on a new affordable product design related to hygiene, and wellbeing in public or private spaces, in a COVID pandemic. In an underdeveloped and highly populated country like Bangladesh, it is difficult to control physical affinity in public space. Not many things are automated here. The contamination thus is very easily spreadable for example, via various public transportation. This problem requires a design solution, where a simple everyday product like cloth clipping can inspire a simple and cheap mechanism of reusable extension tool that can reduce hand contact.
From research into the problem to finding the design solution, developing the mechanism for easy mass production and portability I developed the concept, sketched out various prototypes and finalized the 3d model with proper ergonomics for the product.

The design was initially shortlisted in Roca international design contest 2020 but did not make it to the final round.
